Saudi Arabia’s skies are unlocking new horizons of opportunity. Under Vision 2030, the Kingdom is investing more than $100 billion to transform its aviation industry into a global powerhouse. From world-class mega-airports and new airlines to aerospace hubs and futuristic air taxis, these projects are a core part of Saudi Arabia's Vision, aligning with the country's strategic plan to drive economic growth and diversify its income sources, and designed to connect Saudi Arabia with the world while fueling business growth across construction, logistics, technology, tourism, and sustainability.

In this blog we explore six of the most impactful aviation projects you should keep on your radar.

Set to open by 2030, King Salman International Airport (KSIA) will be among the world's largest airports, distinguished by its immense scale and vast area. The airport will feature six runways, supporting both high-volume passenger and cargo operations. KSIA aims to handle 100 million passengers annually in its initial phase, with a significant capacity for cargo by 2050. The airport covers an area of approximately 57 square kilometers. Travelers will benefit from a wide range of amenities, including retail spaces, luxury features, and enhanced passenger comforts.

Opportunity for businesses:

  • Infrastructure and construction: Firms can participate in building terminals, runways, parking facilities, and transit infrastructure.

  • Smart airport technologies: Companies specializing in AI, IoT, biometric systems, and automated baggage handling can provide cutting-edge solutions.

  • Hospitality and retail: Opportunities exist for restaurants, duty-free shops, hotels, lounges, and other passenger services within terminals.

The airport site was carefully selected, and the building process emphasized innovative design and sustainability. The delivery of this airport was on schedule, with the terminal opening in 2023 and full operations completed the same year. Companies in luxury tourism, hospitality, and logistics can capitalize on the influx of high-end travelers, offering bespoke experiences, transportation services, and premium accommodations.

  • Al-Ula Airport: Expanded capacity to 6 million passengers/year to serve cultural heritage tourism. The site and building process followed sustainable practices, with delivery milestones ensuring the airport opens and is completed on time This expansion enables businesses in heritage tourism, guided tours, cultural events, and local artisan markets to reach a growing audience of both domestic and international visitors.

  • Taif & Abha Airports: Major expansions will improve connectivity for domestic and regional travelers.
