Achieving top-tier Nitaqat status shouldn't rely on luck. Here is how data-driven insights can eliminate Saudization compliance gaps and optimize local talent acquisition:

What Are Saudization Compliance Gaps?

In order to get rid of the problem, the best thing to do is to learn about it first. Basically, a compliance gap is when the number of Saudi workers in your company is much lower than that of other nationalities for the period of time specified as per your sector/company size requirement by the government.

Today, the total number of employees is not the only factor. The government also cares about other things like;

  • Professional Categories: You could still be compliant overall and have the required number of Saudi staff with the right professional qualification for each department.

  • Salary Regulations: Those Saudi workers earning a total of SAR 4,000 per month or less will be counted only as one-half for your quota.

  • Matching of the employee contract with the Qiwa platform: Your Saudization score is not affected by any employees who are not listed under the Qiwa database because you are not keeping their contract documents up-to-date on such a platform.

If you manually track data or use paper records, you risk missing important details.

How Data Fixes Your Compliance Problems

Analyzing and having access to your digital workforce data is like having full transparency. You have the capability to identify potential issues in advance without depending on government alerts.

1. Identifying Hidden Risks at an Early Stage

Data analysis applications draw in the data directly from the payroll and HR systems. For example, the software can immediately alert you to whether a Saudi worker's pay is so minimal that you cannot get the full Nitaqat credit. Also, the system can automatically highlight that the engineer or accountant may lack a valid Qiwa contract.

2. Forecasting Quota Requirements

Benchmarks for Saudization often vary and change. Having data helps you make predictions about the future. For instance, if you learn that the quotas for your sector will increase next year, data enables you to hire Saudi staff far in advance rather than scrambling to hire at the eleventh hour.

Advantages of Data Use in Your Recruitment Process

A data-driven approach doesn't only help you evade the inspectors, but it also enhances your recruitment.

1. Locating the Suitable Skills

A lot of businesses say that they can't find well-qualified Saudi candidates. In most cases, though, they just haven't done their homework. With the help of data, you'll figure out which institutions of higher education, which cities, or which training courses consistently churn out top-notch employees that suit your particular industry.

2. Retention of Employees

Employing one Saudi employee is a matter of winning only half the fight; the other part is having the employee stay with the company. High attrition rate negatively impacts your Nitaqat score. Why do personnel leave? Low salary or lack of training? Data helps you identify these issues so you can improve the workplace and retain employees.

Action Plan: Turning Data into Results

If your dream is protecting the business and building a powerful local team, below are three easy steps you can follow:

  • Conduct a Data Audit: Link data from your payroll, GOSI, and Qiwa platforms. Check for inconsistencies among titles of jobs, compensation packages, or contracts.

  • Correct the Easy Gaps Right Away: Improve your compliance score by uploading missing digital contracts or increasing salaries that are just below the required threshold.

  • Hire the Right Person for the Job, Not Just the Quota: Use data to create a genuine talent reservoir. Instead of merely meeting a quota, hire Saudi nationals for positions that provide them with long-term careers.

We get that it's hard to handle all this by yourself, so we recommend partnering with a reputable local expert.

FAQs

1. What happens if my company falls into the Nitaqat Red Band?

If your organization reaches the Red Zone, you will no longer be in a position to renew foreign employees' visas, apply for new work visas, or change the profession of an employee. You might also be barred from entering into government contracts.

2. Do part-time or remote Saudi workers count toward my quota?

Part-time Saudi employees, if they work for at least 160 hours per month, can give you a full Nitaqat point, which is counted towards the quota. They also count towards quotas even though a Saudi national works remotely.

3. Why are my Saudi employees not showing up in my Saudization score?

Sometimes employee contracts are not registered on the Qiwa platform, and that's an issue, or their information does not match your GOSI registration, so you end up being short one employee in your Saudization score. Starting June 2026, it will be mandatory to register employees on Qiwa, or they won't be counted at all.

4. What is the minimum salary for a Saudi employee to count fully?

Typically, a Saudi employee has to be paid on average at least SAR 4000 a month to count as one Saudi employee. If he/she is paid less than that, then the employee counts as only 0.5. Some professions have higher requirements in terms of salary, like, for example, marketing.

5. How often should I check my Saudization data?

You need to monitor and keep track of your Saudization compliance data as much as possible, if not continuously, because the system calculates the average over the rolling period, and one employee leaving the company or a contract ending could result in a very rapid drop in your score.
